October 19, 2017: For Immediate Release

Michael Slaughter Joins Horizons Team

Renowned Church Leader Will Begin Teaching at Horizons Academy

Horizons is delighted to announce that The Rev. Mike Slaughter, renowned author and leader of the global Church has joined Horizons. Slaughter will be an instructor and ministry coach in the Horizons Academy of Faith and Money. Mike will begin teaching and coaching in the Academy with Horizons founder Clif Christopher beginning in January, 2018.

Mike Slaughter is pastor emeritus and global church ambassador for Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City, Ohio. In July, 2017, Slaughter retired from the active pulpit of Ginghamsburg. For 38 years, Slaughter served as the church’s Senior Pastor and Chief Dreamer, and a spiritual entrepreneur of ministry marketplace innovations.

In the Academy, Mike will be focusing on the theology of stewardship, preaching and teaching around money, how the pastor should lead, and creating a year-round culture of high expectations and stewardship. His knowledge and practical experience will be an invaluable resource that all pastors will find highly beneficial.

During his tenure, Ginghamsburg grew from a tiny, country church with a budget of $27,000 and 90 people each weekend to a church of worldwide influence, with 4500 attendees each weekend and a multi-million dollar budget.

At the same time, the church has been a leader in financial stewardship, directing its resources toward serving the poor, lost and disenfranchised. Through Mike’s leadership, Ginghamsburg has gifted over 8 million dollars to projects in Darfur, Sudan and South Sudan, along with millions more to local and international missions such as the Imagine No Malaria campaign.

In addition to the growing church in Tipp City, Ginghamsburg, Mike has been a leader in the multi-site movement, planting congregations throughout the Dayton, Ohio, area. Mike has shown an amazing ability to make disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ and work for the transformation of the world. Mike’s lifelong passion to reach the lost and set the oppressed free has made him a tireless and leading advocate for the children, women and men of Darfur, Sudan, once named by the U.N. as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. Mike’s call to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted challenges Jesus followers to wrestle with God and their God-destinies.
