Brad Kalajainen

Senior Ministry Strategist

Brad Kalajainen was the founding and lead pastor of Cornerstone Church in Grand Rapids. MI. Cornerstone began as a church plant in 1990 and experienced continual growth over 30 years. When Brad left Cornerstone in 2021, the church averaged 2,650 people worshiping on one of Cornerstone’s three campuses every week.

Through Brad’s 30 years at Cornerstone, he successfully led the church through seven capital campaigns and multiple building projects. Brad helped to develop the congregation’s generous culture that led the church to be deeply involved in mission.

The church relocated in 2008 in the heart of an economic recession and was able to successfully grow the church and retire the 12 million dollar debt in a short amount of time. Brad led the church in donor development and creating a generosity culture that continues to the present.

Brad brings real-life pastoral experience to Horizons’ stewardship and generosity work. He has written many devotionals and messages related to generosity and can share these with participating churches if so desired.

Brad has taught extensively on strategic planning, vision, preaching, staff and organizational development, transitions, and more. Brad coaches and consults in areas of new stewardship, generosity, church revitalization, leadership, growth, and multisite ministry-related topics.

Brad has been married to Colleen for 45 years. They have grown children and grandchildren. Brad and Colleen live in the Madison, WI area now.
